Social Distancing Applies To Sea Turtles

But, for the celebrities of the beach, our honu, they don't appreciate the crowd. The green sea turtle and hawksbill sea turtle are the species most frequently observed in Hawai‘i. According to the DLNR, the green sea turtle is listed as a threatened species under federal and state law. NOAA and DLNR recommend, for the animals' protection and your safety, everyone should stay at least 10 feet (3 meters) from a turtle. Please respect our islands and the creatures we consider family.
