Living Aloha: A Look At the Inspiration Behind My New Children's Book Series
by Tésia Melani
I remember like it was yesterday, I was in the college parking lot on the Windward Side of O'ahu prepping for my performing arts class. Like every great college student that completes..."looks over" their assignments before turning them in; the question asked, "what made you want to go to college?"
I thought of my siblings. Then my brain went off on a tangent and visualized me giving them my college textbooks filled with hundreds of pages written by someone else versus a few pages written by me. Which book would they hold close and hopefully share with their children? A children's book that incorporated them in it, filled with love, filled with aloha. I then thought of a series, eight islands with eight different lessons. Characters that reflected each brother and sister and what lesson each of them taught me.
